We often get requests from RMCM members to promote non-RMCM events that interest them. With that in mind, we are creating a specific place on the Announce-it blog for that type of announcement. Use the guidelines below to submit information about non-RMCM events that you think others might be interested in. Karen and I will always reserve the right to promote, or not promote, ministries, groups, and events, based on our knowledge of the doctrine, or spiritual atmosphere, that will be promoted with the event. We believe that this a part of our responsibility as pastors.
Before we get to the details of how to submit information, please understand that we get literally dozens of requests every month by phone, email, snail-mail, and verbally to advertise a huge variety of events. We can’t possibly put all of that information out, so we have limited, and prioritized, what we promote. Here is how we do it:
Verbal announcements on Sunday – these announcements are exclusively used for RMCM events, with a VERY occasional exception. We try to keep verbal announcements to an absolute minimum, so RMCM groups and events get first priority.
Announcement slides shown on screen before and after services – These slides are time consuming to produce and, if there are too many, no one reads them. So again, announcement slides are reserved primarily for promoting RMCM small Groups and ministries.
The Announce-it blog – The announce-it blog was created as a simple way to let people know about a wide variety of events. Each week you will find a list of ongoing small groups and events, and things that are coming soon. The information from the blog is also emailed each week in a condensed form to anyone who wants it. Visit the blog at http://announce-it.blogsot.com.
Something New – to provide a handy place for you to post information about non-RMCM groups and events, we are creating a new section on the Announce-it blog called “Around Town.” We just ask that you submit information only about events that provide a healthy spiritual environment. While these do not have to be Christian events or groups, please be sure that they uphold Biblical values, and provide something healthy for people. Here is how you can submit your information:
Announcements must be sent by email to announce@rmcmchurch.org, or use the announcement form found in the menu list to the right of this post.
Announcements received by midnight Wednesday will be posted that week, anything received after that will go on the next week’s blog.
All announcements must contain the following basic information about the group or event:
· What (the name of the event)
· Where
· When – date and time
· Who (contact information of the person or group hosting the event).
· Your contact information – two reasons for this, first, your endorsement of the group or event means a lot to us, second, we will need your email and phone number to be posted so that people with questions can contact you – not the RMCM office.
Announcements will be limited to 50 words, so please be brief.
We hope this helps you get the word out about some of the great things going on around the valley.
